Girls With Impact is on a Mission
To level the playing field for all women in business & beyond by equipping them with the skills, confidence, and network to be tomorrow’s leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
Meet GWI CEO and Founder
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Jennifer Openshaw
“When speaking at Davos, I recognized global leaders at this World Economic Forum kept emphasizing the need for organizations to invest in women.
After 30 years of hearing the same talk, I knew it was time for action.
Instead of trying to fix corporate culture from the top down, let’s make a change at the heart of the problem: Equip the next generation at the start.
That’s what we did.
Partnering with business leaders and educators from Harvard Business School, we developed a modern, outcomes-driven approach designed to ensure young women are ready to excel in the workforce from Day One.”
BIO
Jennifer Openshaw is a nationally known financial leader, author, and CEO of Girls With Impact, the nation’s leading online Business & Leadership training for young women.
Her expertise and national reputation as a financial innovator have made her a valuable ally in the media — from “Oprah,” “ Dr. Phil” and “Today” to CNN, Fox and CNBC.
Jennifer personally understands the challenges of many Americans. At the age of 7, she cared for her younger brothers as her mother worked two full-time jobs as a waitress to make ends meet. At the age of 14, Jennifer took on her first job as a maid in a motel and later held multiple jobs to put herself through college.
In 2000, Jennifer was named one of the Internet’s 25 Rising Stars as a result of her work as CEO and founder of Women’s Financial Network, a company created as a result of her experience in the industry and as the “Money Expert” for KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. The company was acquired by Wall Street legend Muriel Siebert (NYSE: SIEB).
Jennifer’s financial industry experience includes pension advisor Wilshire Associates, Bank of America, and BankOne (now JP Morgan Chase). Most recently, she was Partner and Chief Marketing Officer at global consulting firm Mercer, where she led the When Women Thrive research platform. She started her career in the California State Treasurer’s Office.
A longtime Dow Jones MarketWatch columnist, Jen is also the author of three books including The Millionaire Zone (Hyperion), based on research about the social networking strategies of the wealthy; and What’s Your Net Worth? (Perseus), turned into a Public Television Show.
Jennifer has been an advisor to Fortune 500 firms, including Microsoft, where she also served as national spokesperson. She writes regularly as a LinkedIn Influencer with a 500,000+ reach and the editor of NextJen Matters for corporate leaders.
Jennifer holds an MBA in finance and BA from UCLA. She is a member of the New York Economic Club and was appointed by the California Governor to the Commission on California Government Efficiency.
